He is the former Chairman of Puthia Upazila Parishad and the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) nominated candidate for Rajshahi-5 constituency, founded by Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman. Believer in the rice ears symbol (Dhaner Shish), Bangladesh Zindabad.
